Piano laying concert? Roll out your mat on Tuesday evening, October 8, at the iconic Wintercircus in Ghent. Place your pillow under your head near the grand piano for this intimate, one-time-only laying concert, featuring live music by composer-pianist Mattias Devriendt. Expect a unique, uninterrupted musical story where calmness, tension, musical themes, and dynamics carry you away for an hour. A moment of peace, quiet, and connection in a world full of WhatsApp messages and Instagram/TikTok stories. The concert lasts about 75 minutes with no intermissions. Don’t forget your pillow, mat (or large towel), blanket, or sleep mask! (There are only a limited number of mats and pillows available).

Who is Mattias Devriendt? Mattias Devriendt started playing piano at the age of 9 and lives in Ghent. Since 2004, he has played in the band Monserey and, since 2022, has also performed solo as a pianist. Not Mozart, Beethoven, or Schubert, but his own work. His main influences are Radiohead, Philip Glass, Nicolas Jaar, The Album Leaf, Nils Frahm, Keith Jarrett, and Jóhann Jóhannsson. "My mission is to provide people with moments of peace and reflection through music." In 2024, he will release the last of four EPs with the BRG Benelux label. The EPs are titled Simplicity, Contention, Equanimity, and Opposition, and there’s also a vinyl album called As I Lay Down. In October 2023, he was named "Gentleman of the Month" by the City of Ghent.

All spots have been booked for this concert, but you can still register for 30 October. See agenda for ticket link.
